SMUDGEWORKS is a new open studio which will be opening in early 2020. Apart from being my own studio, offering access to printing and painting facilities, and fine art digital printing services and commercial signs, it will also be available for Artists’ Residencies.

The studio is situated on a 7acre farm, amid trees and animal life. It is across the road from Cuttagee Beach, a beautiful, relatively secluded beach on the Sapphire Coast, several minutes south of Bermagui. The studio not only has ample work space, but also has an ensuite bathroom and kitchenette, with a king sofa bed. Wifi internet is available as well as access to computers with the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.

The residency will cost $800 per 7day week, with all food and other expenses the responsibility of the resident artist. The kitchen has a microwave and induction stove top and will be fully equipped with dining service and kitchen utensils (pots, pans, etc.). Linen will also be provided but it will be the responsibility of the artist to manage their own laundry. Laundry facilities will be available but will require booking.

Whilst many materials will be available, it is expected the resident artist will have a basic range of their own materials. A printing press will be available but there will be a printing surcharge to cover consumables. Mezzotint tools are available but artists will be charged for replacement if they are damaged. Ferric chloride etching facilities will also be available. Artists should provide their own paper however, a limited amount of BFK Rives, Hahnemühle and Canson, as well as some Japanese papers, will be available for purchase.
